I enjoyed the refreshing realism of this play. Being from Trinidad this book gave me a view into the recent history of my county. The characters were finely drawn allowing a look into the lives of ordinary people during World War 2. This play will rouse you from any lethargy and evoke strong emotions.

We were lucky to find this book...

My husband and I were married last year. His family is Jewish and mine is Methodist. We were having a hard time finding a ceremony that would honor both cultures without having either (a) no mention of Christ or (b) "Christ" uttered every third word. Our minister recommended this book.

We were a little leery, as the title is "Christian Weddings," but it was an excellent resource for us. It gives you many different versions of each section of the ceremony (i.e. exchanging of rings, vows, greeting, etc). Assuming your minister will work with you, you can put a ceremony together by picking and choosing what you like.

We were able to do that--and our ceremony was beautiful. Most important, we were both very comfortable with it.

The description should make clear that although the series is called "Unabridged Classics in MP3", the title of this volume is "_Selected_ Canterbury Tales". I.e. the selected tales are unabridged, not the entire collection.

Even more important is to note that the recording is not of Geoffrey Chaucer's actual poetry, but of somebody's translation into modern English.

Good For A Busy Pastor

I previously owned the 12 volume set, but I really like the 2 volume abridged set better. I usually consult multiple commentaries and with the 2 volume set I can get the information that I need and move on much quicker.

Solid basic resource

I got this Commentary set based on the recommendation of the pastor who was teaching a class I was in. I've never done bible research before so this was a good way to get my feet wet. It is not too deep for a beginner like myself, but it gives enough detail and background to broaden your perspective and help you think critically about how you interpret the bible - a very important thing! i'd say for the average person like myself it's a good, handy biblical resource. Seems reliable, nothing I've read in it so far has set off any red flags (in terms of being too subjective). My mentality is that you can't be too careful in what you allow to influence your thinking - especially when it comes to scripture! I think I'll get good use out of this set, I'd recommend it.

Great Tool For The Bible Student

"The Expositor's Bible Commentary" Abridged Edition takes the 12-volume original Old Testament and New Testament set and condenses the information into 2 volumes (1 Old Testament and 1 New Testament set).

For several years I was interested in the Expositor's Bible Commentary set but do not do so for 2 main reasons:

1. The original 12-volume set takes up too much room in my office.
2. Did not want to purchase the cd because I already spend enough time behind a computer!

I serve as an adjunct faculty at a local community college and alternate between teaching either an Introduction to Old Testament or Introduction to New Testament class each semester. Since I also have a full-time sales position and travel, carrying around a heavy commentary set or book was out of the question.

This commentary set perfectly meets those needs. The approach is scholarly and leaves out the numerous footnotes and other notes without compromising the seemingly sound commentary on Bible verses.

Highly recommended. Whether a pastor, teacher, or Bible student, this commentary set needs to be a part of your library!

Outstanding and thoughtful work of art!

Journeys. We all have them. We are both a part of the Universe and separate from it. Evolving and incorporating into our beings all that we experience along the way. Each emotion - boredom, separation, anxiety, rebellion, passion, aloofness, disdain, rejection, indifference, despair, loneliness, awareness, growth and becoming - part of that revolution in time and space that forms and molds our lives into who we are whilst reminding us that our beginning is a part of our whole - neither good nor bad, but simply a part of the whole of all that we are; our redemption is in acceptance and incorporating it into our being. This, for me, is the essence of Bring Me Back Home by Devin Papillion. A thoughtful, very human work of art with a tone of cosmic spirituality that causes one to pause and reflect on ones own life.

Though a young artist, this author has wisdom and crosses age boundaries.

A very well written masterpiece!

Bring Me Back Home is an amazing assortment of a character's accounts of experiencing this ever so complex thing we call life. I could not help but to see myself as I read through the journey.

As humans we are faced with many trials and tribulations. Sometimes we are optimistic. Other times not so much. This book captures the essence of what it feels like to contemplate stepping out of one's comfort zone to experience life in the unknown. Emotions are evoked. The sense of uncertainty is intriguing. Discovering oneself lies in being able to test your instincts when you are in an unfamiliar place. This book tells the story of just that in a very quick read. 2 thumbs up!

Indeed, it must be read again to appreciate its artistry and experience an artist's journeying beyond earth to find her relationship to the world, time and life's twist and turns. Well done, Devin. and the adventurous will love it. With the virtues of friendship

It is hard to justify spending $25 on an audio CD, but this is one instance where it is entirely worthwhile. Not just a page-turning book, the dramatization is excellent, and has me sitting in the car when I get home so I can keep listening. With the virtues of friendship, loyalty, wisdom, kindness, humility, courage, peaceful, lion-heartedness all bundled together in this amazing little book. It is decidedly Christian, but worth the while of anyone who wants to hear a great story.

As a book, it's right up there with Pilgrims progress, but this is great audio drama. It captivates and holds you throughout.
